I purchased it on my 08' 335xi, which kept the stock 17" rims and run flats, and paid $1200. Over the 4.5 years I've had the car I've gone through 5 tires and 3 cracked rims so it definitely paid for itself. Most of the damage happened hitting pot holes on i95 doing 70. I'm leasing a new m235i and the dealership is offering it for $2k for 5 years (i'm planning on buying the car at the end of the lease and it was a $100 difference between 3 and 5 years). They said so long as the tires and wheels stay within spec they're covered for everything except cosmetic damage. I'm going to try to talk them down from $2k but I definitely got my money's worth on my 335xi so I'm strongly considering it for this car. Again though your results may vary...
