My M240i has a slight variation to the dash that's shown, but essentially the same process. You'll need the sum of the last 5 digits of your VIN to unlock. Takes less than a minute to get too with the ignition on or the engine on. Unfortunately, you have to do it every time you start the car if you want this information. To me, not a big deal as I only want the oil temp on the track. I can't get the B58 oil temp above 110C.
