At around 220k kms the chain stretched and started slapping against the case, which eventually cracked.
Was bulletproof up until then.
And that was an incredible car to drive in the snow.

I've had good experience with xDrive so far. I had a 328xi back in college with 150k miles on it and never had an issue with the transfer case. Currently, along with my m235xi, I also have a 2013 X5 4.4L with ~160k+ miles on the odo and have never had an issue with the transfer case, original is still going strong. I do think BMW changed the oil in that, though... can't remember.
