With x-drive is read on many forums to keep the diameter difference below 2%
I think 225/45/18 will be too tall depending on offset of wheels you use.
Tire rack and 1010tire recommend 225/45/17 for 17" and 225/40/18 for 18" square winter set up.
I always size down for winter. Mostly for cost.
