This stuff is so frustrating even for someone working in IT (for any car) and so many videos seem to have slightly different instructions.
I have a rolling code garage (direct drive/Sommer). It took me about a half hour but finally got it working (why it worked finally I have no clue). After attempting the various video instructions,
1. I cleared homelink by holding button 1 & 3 until rapid flash (20 seconds)
2. Held buttons 1, 2 & 3 until the light went out (20-30 seconds)
3. Hit the Learn button on the garage door opener (i tried just hitting the Learn button once, I tried holding the Learn button down longer until it was flashing)
4. And finally hit my preferred Homelink button 3 times and it finally seems to be working.
