Not sure how true it actually is, but a very experienced European car mechanic who bought one for modding told me he "loves them, but literally everything will break... I mean everything." He then proceeded to show me how even the window switches inside the car were broken. LOL

Your mechanic is definitely right. Back in 2012 I was bringing my 330i to my mechanic a lot and he had to test drive it for one time when he fixed a part to see if the fix was effective, and then the next week I go to my mechanic I find out that he's bought a 2008 335i, he admits thats its an unreliable car, but he loved it, which is weird cause mechanics usually hate working on their own cars, but since then he's cherished that 335 likes its his child.
