I always thought I was risking it on my 335i when I had under 10 miles cruising range and would stretch it out a bit and always refill over 0. I never thought to see what the range really was.

You're right about the gauge not being very accurate. It should have stalled out right when you hit 0.

I ran out of gas once before, but it was in a 20 year old Jeep that had a broken gas gauge that was stuck on full.
