"Broke this piece off my timing chain guide (E90)"

I replaced my valve cover gasket and (somehow) broke the piece off shown in the pic....

I understand every single part, complete, on the car is there because it was engineered that way...just looking for opinions on a course of action.

Leave it alone or is the timing chain now going to 'fall off', out of its cogs?
