I've tracked my 235i over two dozen days over the last two seasons with no issues - other than using up plenty of gas, tires and brakes. How in the world did you melt a cat?
You know, I really don't know, and neither did the tech. I'm just chalking it up to a defective cat. BMW makes a lot of cars - it happens.
