I'll be in a similar spot in just a few months. Was talking to my SA yesterday and he said the same exact thing. BMW really doesn't want the headache of taking the car back so they will often give the dealer a deep discount. My buyout is $29k (16 M235i xDrive) and he was pretty confident that I could buy the car back from them with CPO for that amount.
