Up to 200 kph (~125 mph) they go head to head, beyond that speed 1M is a bit faster. A great advantage for M235i is its gearbox - the blue one I've driven had 8spd auto.
We were to film some racing on autobahn later that night, but it started to rain, so the idea of filming became pointless

1M is way more rough, it's sharper and more focused on driver. M235i is more refined, is a way batter daily driver. It's as fast as 1M, but achiving the same speeds requires less from the driver.
M235i is one of my fav modern BMWs - just can wait for the M2!
