I am at 1500 miles right now and I have done something similar (lots of engine braking and accelerating constantly to 4000 RPM.) I just changed the fluids as well; engine oil filter had lots of little metal particles, diff fluid was nasty, transmission oil looked a little dark. Thanks for the suggestion about 6k in a high gear.
