You can't see what map it's on, you just have to count the number of times you press it (5 times for map 5).
Hold the - for 5 seconds to enter into map mode, then press the + button 5 times.
If you really want to visually confirm it, then you'll need the USB cable connected.
Pretty sure you also need USB cable to clear CEL.
What you need to do is buy the cable, connect it to JB and your laptop, then download the software. Check the link above, it has all the info.
