It's strange to me that BMW chose to use the N55 for the M2. Even though they did an amazing job tuning it and it is a totally different beast than that of my M235i, it would have made sense to use the B58 as is for the M2 and then have the M240's slightly detuned. This would have allowed BMW to progressively increase power in both models in future years.
Of course BMW knows this better than I do but I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall of those boardroom discussions.
