As a mechanic I can tell you for a Fact that even 10k oil changes is too long. It maybe true it still lubricates but it leaves build up inside the engine. Also causing more oil consumption and leaks. It won't be noticeable till after 100k but I feel manufacturers are only doing these long oil changes because they can. They won't have engines failing before warranty.
