In comfort / eco mode it will be more comfortable / better on fuel than your E90 so there's that.

I can't speak for comparing AWD to RWD but there's some differences in ride quality there too.

For commuting on the highway I'd still pick a 6 cyl over a 4 cyl as the differences would be minor, unless it's stop and go traffic. If it's a year round commuter I'd still take RWD over AWD but that's just personal preference, it isn't for everybody. We keep our roads clear and heavily salted for the most part. There may be 1 or 2 days a year where it would be sketchy to drive and your problem will be clearance to bottom of car.
