Hub Centric rings are only required when the wheel and hub flange size are mismatched. Is for ensuring the whell is centered. Honestly, this is not totally necessary as if you install the wheel correctly, or, snug each bolt one at a time, cross pattern, and THEN tighten, you'll be centered.

The compact spare for my 2009 JCW r55
MINI Clubman needs a 12mm spacer to
clear the rear JCW brakes, but the
tire/wheel/jack/tool tray fits nicely out
of the way in the spare well.

strapped to the floor of the trunk of the
M240i convertible does take up up a bit
of real estate.
