I wouldn’t say the TT is ugly, more a bit boring for a sporting orientated car, but it is definitely dynamically inferior to the M240i having the Golf driveline and significant understeer that the electronics can’t fully quell due to the maximum 50% drive that the Haldex system can send to the rear. Our Golf R is quite practical with the hatch (an advantage over the TT), but feels safe with it’s FWD biased platform compared with the more exciting RWD biased 2-series. I far prefer driving our RWD M240i anytime I don’t need the hatch, so the Golf R is normally relegated to shopping car duties, even when there is snow on the ground.
