An OCC (Oil Catch Can) is meant to redirect the flow of the expelled gasses that commonly circulate in the PCV. regular things like Oil blow by from the pistons, (Think high RPM load) Natural engine wear, Long periods of sitting where moisture and water can collect. All of this gets pushed out of the engine via the PCV, Because of emissions reasons. BMW must redirect this flow back into the Intake in order to burn this off inside the engine.

unfortunately This doesn't happen, what does happen is this oily watery shitty stuff gets coated all over your intake track, Intake runners, intake valves and piston as well as other places you don't want this stuff getting. Someone else mentioned Intercooler and charge piping. over time this can cause major power loss, mis-fires, dirty injectors, poor air flow, poor fuel economy and much more.

It was always said that the revamped version of the N55, think N55B30U0 and N55B30TO wouldn't suffer from these issues as it was a big N54 issue. Not so true! I've got a BMS OCC on my 16 M235i that i use for autocross/track and it only has 65,xxxKM on the engine. Doesn't burn oil and runs super healthy. I STILL find a good nice mess in the OCC from time to time. It did cost a little bit but i'm so glad i invested in it because the gunk i'm seeing come out...Would not look good inside the motor....
