Nervous to ask my dealer as under warranty and they might say I wrecked something...
The smaller one is hot all the time as it might be on the same circuit ad the alarm (light under mirror flashes as RD stays on)

You could remove it and take it to the dealer and just tell them that the mirror only auto dims sometimes and tell them a friend of your had the same issue and it was a connector or something? Just an idea
