Exclamation Closing the hood after pedestrian protection triggered

I was unfortunate to hit a dog at really slow speed. The dog run off into the park and the owner was nowhere in sight. There in no visible mark on the bumper but the bonnet popped up at the hinges. By all means I hope the beast found its way home and is ok. However I'm stuck with a raised bonnet and a bill to pick up.

First things first, does anyone know how close the bonnet? The actuators are still pushing it up and I don't know if there's a way lower it back to normal? Simply pushing it down doesn't work.

Secondly, I have yet to call the local specialist or the dealer about repair cost. From what I found it's not going to be cheap. Unless something else is damaged by PPS, replacing the hinges and clearing the error code seems like an easy job. Would save some cash and I might find second hand hinges in matching colour. I've got the skills and tools, may lack some knowledge. Would the sensor need replacing too?
