From local BMW store:
BMW NA has just released Universal Snap-In Adapters for your phones.
No longer do you need to remove the phone from the case to connect to the snap-in adapter.
Here are a few pics of the iPhone adapter.
First is of it connected in the center arm rest of a '15 6 series.
Second one is of the stand alone unit.
The length of the cable allows it to rest next to the adapter in the storage compartment or lay the phone on the outside.
Part number for the Apple adapter is 84 21 2 365 786 MSRP $265
Part number for the Android adapter 84 21 2 365 783 MSRP $200
These are connect models so they are for vehicles with SA 6NF and 6NS specific to NBT vehicles (iDrives with the touch pad on top which are most 2014 and forward vehicles with the BMW Apps option)
