A quick update on the Akebono brakes squeaking problem.
Taken brakes apart again and re-applied a generous amount of brake grease on the back/sides of the pads, spring bracket and pins. It's been about 1 month and no squeaking, even in reverse.
I probably did not apply enough grease the first time, so be generous to prevent this.
