I've really liked the Bridgestone s007, and I think a set is under $700. Same basic tread pattern as the MP4S for wet traction, but a better handling carcass, doesn't eat the outside edges as badly despite the lower wear rating. Or Conti ExtremeContacts are cheaper and equivalent to the MP4S. Tires are like shoes, economizing is seldom worth it over time.
