I test fit my 245/40-18 with 45 wheels before I put 5mm spacers and it was JUST about touching the shock with the car jacked up. I might have been able to drive it, but I thought it would rub under conditions.
My car is AWD, so a FWD might have a few more MM between shock and tire. Also I'm running Michelin Ps4s tires. Not sure if those are wider or thinner than average 245s.
