I meant for that as a way to evaluate feel, and best done during a spirited drive on a nice curvy road - it is a rough approximation of the different fitment styles. For street driving there is a lot more latitude in acceptable pressures. On track tire pressure is another story entirely, especially with the RE's - for track use the recommendation is to find the optimum pressure and try to keep it there (on track you really only care about hot pressure, but you can learn what starting point will get you to the best place). It is good to experiment, but on track I'd aim for more like 1-2# increments.
