Well adding MPE to my m240i increased the insurance by £90/ year. My 520d insurance went up by £180/year from adding window tinting, boot spoiler and from replacing 18 inch wheel with 20 inch wheels. So for me, it is probably worth it upgrading the whole vehicle than retrofitting.
