The Hwy 290 drive from Houston to Austin is a fun drive. Be careful of state troopers on this route. They're hip to this route being the desired route for car club convoys traveling to and from Austin. I don't remeber the name of the town but there is one stoplight town that is notorious for enforcing their antiquated speed limit of 25 - 30 MPH or something like that. When you travel this route, you must go through this town but it's like a mile or two at the most. Just slow down. They will ticket you for 1 MPH over the limit. Aside from that it's a nice drive, beautiful scenery with twisties and hills. |
