You would need at least a 2018 model unfortunately 
A 2017 would be on the iDrive 4 variant of the base head unit whereas a 2018+ would have iDrive 6 running on ENTRYNAV2. |

I have a bmw 318i (2018) without navigation.
I don't really know the exact type of the headunit.
But the dealer told me there is a missing item
Which is preventing me from adding carplay.
But I found this on aliexpress.
The seller confirmed to me that this works even if your car does not have navigation in it.
Has anyone tried any of these?
Does it actually work?
Or is there any easier way to add carplay?
