You most certainly can get it to work, you just can't use the same bulb type as OP who has a facelifted LCI car. There are specific bulb types for both the Pre-LCI and LCI cars. For a 2014 2er you'll need 10x P21W/12V/21W and 2 x 12V 21W H21W:
