I don't understand why you'd replace before it's leaking though. It typically doesn't fail catastrophically. The big issue is people that never pop the hood routinely and inspect for leaks. A bad longterm leak at the OFHG can get on the accessory belts and result in the belt slipping off the pulleys and getting sucked through the seal behind the crank pulley.
