I think I know what BMW is doing with this type of cars.
They need a bigger product line in order to make better profits over their R&D expenses.
But I think they need another brand to do so. It is very expensive to create a new brand, but if they continue this way, they may lower the exclusivity and appeal of the BMW brand. I think they have to be very careful.
