Incremental improvements, but they all make a difference. All I've done is disconnect the centre channel and install the harness, but now I think the sound is decent and tolerable.

Well, the rear speakers will make a big difference. I'm guessing once they're in you'll be tempted to do something to the front. The bug has bitten others.
