On Tirerack, Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Run Flats in size 225/40-18 are listed as having a V speed rating, 149 mph. That is (slightly) less than the 155 mph you get with the increased top speed limiter, option 840, so I understand why BMW does not offer a 155 mph top speed with these tires.

Michelin Pilot Super Sports in staggered size have a Y speed rating, 186 mph, a comfortable margin over a 155 mph limit.
