Hey all, I have a M235i 6MT with Nokian Haka R2 snows square set up. I have to say the traction control does kick in a lot during really snowy days or if the ground isn't plowed. But the car moves and there is not one day that I got stuck--good news!
One thing to note is that while some snow ridges remained on the road, it does slip the tires a lot and the traction control comes in a lot leaving the car operating at slow speeds not by choice--but it's actually safer for you so I take that as a good thing. Initial 1st gear launch on snowy roads will also slip with RWD but once you get a little of that momentum going it will pick up, this is typical for all RWD cars. Don't cheap out on snow tires...
Sometimes I put my car in EcoPro (Auto start-stop OFF) and drive with the throttle being severely limited so that it launches better.
