Doubt the front vents make that much difference, I've heard the US spec ones have two openings as part of a 'hot weather' adaptation feature but I'm in Hong Kong (which gets very damn hot and humid in summer) and we get the grilles with only one side open. Pretty sure MSport for the US market is a purely aesthetic thing.

US version does have additional radiators on both sides so it is not really purely aesthetic.
