I probably use 1/3rd the available volume of the foam gun's tank, so it's not like you have to constantly refill it and use a ton of product. IMHO, for the price, there's no reason not to own one and give your car a quick foam bath and rinse before the actual hand wash to get the larger grit off the car first. As for construction quality of this particular foam gun, it is excellent and I expect it to last a long time provided I don't bash it against the concrete repeatedly or run it over.

Good luck!
IMHO there's no comparison between the foam from a foam cannon vs a foam gun. It's like shaving cream vs a bubble bath foam. The dwell time is much longer with foam cannon foam vs foam gun foam.

That being said, if you have no other use for a pressure washer and don't want the expense then a foam gun certainly becomes a viable alternative.
That's fair, but how foamy does shampoo foam really need to be to get the job done? A proper hand wash is usually required anyhow, and that is where the real cleaning is done. Even though a foam gun doesn't provide as thick and sticky coverage as a cannon, it still completely coats the surface of the car with a sudsy shampoo/water solution, which is all that's needed to add some lubricity before the hand wash or loosen up the larger grit for a pre-wash and rinse. I guess it might not look as nice and thick going on, but it gets the job done in the end for even the most hardcore OCD swirlaphobia cases.

Besides, isn't washing our pride and joys supposed to be a relaxing and enjoyable experience? Pressure washer somewhat ruins the experience, no? I have one too. Just don't see the need to use it on our cars.

Good to have options, I suppose!
