I've been around a fair amount of loud noise – much of it before the cumulative effect of loud sounds was understood by the public – and my hearing isn't in good shape. I stepped out of an audiologist's booth in 2003 to see an array of hearing aid material spread out before me. I'd heard it before, in 1987. No thanks – not yet, anyway.
The hearing loss exhibited in those tests was high-frequencies. I doubt that's what BMW is pumping into our cabins.
If I had to guess, I'd say that my fairly well sound-deadened car has a bit of my mid-80s M635CSi being pumped into it. I like the sound, and even more, the idea –
a lot.
