I'm thinking that Euro letter is a photocopy for all M cars and was passed along to the M235is without knowing the true facts.
Any 1,200 mi. service is probably being done out of goodwill - I personally would save that goodwill for something else that may pop up, because they'll see they goodwill'd this in your file and probably won't do so on the next questionable repair. It's really not necessary.
