Bryan - When I had my 235i, for track days I ran a square setup on 17x8" wheels with the 245/40ZR-17 Hankook R-S3 (Version 2) SL tires. I don't recall the offset, but it was probable an ET40 all around. No issues with running or clearance with this setup. This was a great setup for several reasons. First, I could swaps wheels and tires front to rear. Also, the Hankooks have a super stiff sidewall, so they don't eat tires like the MPSS. Second, this setup saves about 7-8 pound per wheel. Plus, 17 inch tires are cheaper than 18s. To counter act the inherent front end push of the 235i, I ran the fronts with 2lb more pressure than the rears. I'll see if I can find a post I did several years ago with all of the details. Note - Hankook now has the R-S4 which is an update to the R-S3. I run the R-4s on my M2 and they are a great tires.
