Well, it should not break within warranty period (at least) if the car is stock.
Still, it's a plastic part and dealing with fairly high pressure and temperature. It can break randomly.
I'm not saying it's acceptable. It's a bad engineering/manufacturing plus cost cutting.
Actually, if this poll shows some strong relationship with higher boost pressure from any mod, then it's good engineering. lol
Mind and my wife's X3 (with n55) are still fine at 13k miles and 60k miles.
