read me....
http://www.bmwtis.com/tsb/bulletins/...p/b513508g.htm

cracks are in 3 groups for bmwna coverage....

basically any crack from outside isn't covered

anything from excessive force inside is not covered

stress cracks will be given consideration....you will have to claim that it broke while going over a railroad track or speedbump, and frame flexing did it

2 questions..
DOES the crack touch an outside edge of the windshield above or near the mirror????
ALSO does the car have less than 10,000 miles???
if you can answer yes to both those you have a strong case. if you can't answer yes to the first, tap it with your fist until you can, lol.

if it's obvious that the crack is from the mirror being adjusted you might be screwed and have to go the insurance route unless you can somehow convince them that the glass was stressed and broke too easily with the minor adjustment that you made.

dealer shouldn't give a shit, they just want to get paid, doesn't matter if you pay out of pocket, or they bill BMWNA under warranty, or thru insurance, if you bitch enough they might tell BMWNA it is a stress crack. Print the above TIS and show it to them, see if they can make it happen, slip the SA a $50 and call it a day.
