Footwell LED retrofit

Hey guys. I just upgraded from a 2015 F22 to a 2024 G42. On my old car, I had added LED strips in the footwell that would light up upon entry and it looked amazing when entering the car. I personally didn't want them on all the time so having the wires piggyback off the existing footwell wiring meant they would go off after the doors closed which was great.

I thought I would simply repeat the process on the newer model but it turns out the connector they have in there has NO SLACK so I can't pull it out and connect the LED strip wiring.

Those that have done a lighting retrofit, how have you handled the foot wells? I'm willing to ditch the existing strips which I took off from my old one and try something different if there are better options now.

Appreciate any advice!
