This is 17.5mm spacer. Theoretically, 15mm spacer could work. I stuffed 255/40R17 RE71R into a 17x8 et40 with 10mm spacer and there is no rubbing. The only things that changed mathematically are the tire width and the wheel. Hankook rs4 is wider than RE71R by .4" and shorter by 0.2in. The wheel should clear with 15mm spacer.

Update: I have 5-6mm space between tire and spring with hankook rs4 and 17.5mm spacer. tire will touch if I use 15mm spacer. If I used RE71R and 15mm spacer, I would have 1-2mm.

clunking sound coming from the front wheel areas. likely end links.
Yea in order to gain more clearance you're gonna require that shorter spring. I can get under the car and confirm but I believe mine is a Swift 070, and should be able to match the spring rate to KW's as per their specs (mine are 50lbs less).

If doing front links, grab a set of Hotchkis adjustable units. They're solid steel bushings with adjust-ability. Had mine on for the third year now, no issues.
