I realize pictures taken with a smartphone emphasize this effect, as - especially with bright body color - exposure being OK for the body, it puts dark rims deep into shadows, but even when I spot a white car with black rims in reality I just don't like it; even with over-sized rims the aggressiveness effect is just not there.
Everyone has their take on things. Personally I don't like being the center of attention... I don't want everyone to "ooo" and "ahh" at my car. If people can't see it that's fine. My car is for me. But if someone takes time to really check it out, they're in for a treat :-)
