Lightbulb BMW M2 Prototype Gets Quad Exhaust

BMW M2 Prototype Gets Quad Exhaust

COMMENTS

The 2016 M2 (F87) is taking shape, now testing with the quad exhaust that's become a hallmark of BMW M vehicles. This time the prototype is fitted with wheels from the M3/M4 prototype which did not make production. Earlier prototypes were testing with the M3/M4 19" Style 437M wheels.

As before, we see the aggressively flared fenders and wider track, M brakes (which will be painted blue on the production M2), drilled rotors and M limited slip differential.

Although its front and rear bumpers are now taped up, they remains M sport bumpers (like the earlier prototypes). We will see the M2 bumpers, along with any other cosmetic bits added later in testing.

The M2 will begin production in late Fall 2015, for deliveries in late 2015 - early 2016. It will feature the N55 turbo inline 6 engine (N55B30T0), producing around 370-380 PS (365-375 HP).

See the new prototype photos below, and compare to the previous prototype (photos and video).

Looking very nice! I'm curious as to whether the flared fenders will form to the body smoothly at the lower transition similar to the 1M or continue to resemble the M235i Racing??

Quad exhaust as expected, nice to see it moving along quick quickly though.

This car is going to be an absolute classic.

S55 swap should be easy. If not I'd guess some teasing for Christmas, like the 1M.

Very excited about this car. I definitely want one. Hopefully they'll put smaller mirrors on it and make them match the body color. Those mirrors are huge. Making them silver makes them stand out and look even bigger.

I can't believe these won't really hurt M4 sales.....maybe not as sleek looking but close in performance and 20k less!?....

Looking good! 1M resale value going down... The only problem is that is rolling around with an M3... That means that that ///M division is making sure the M2 doesn't suprass the M3's performance!

I hope they go all the way to the body, i think they look awful on the M235i racing. it is as if they didnt have the time to finish it !!!

1M resale value going down, wishful thinking more like. 1M is and always will be a rare vehicle and that will ensure high resale values now and in the future.
