AWRON DGA Gauge Installed on My M235i by eAs!

As promised, I got my AWRON DGA vent gauge installed in my M235i by Tom at European Auto Source (eAs). First thing I noticed with this gauge was the sharp and vivid (color OLED) screen. Pictures and videos simply cannot do it justice - you have to see it in person to truly get a feel for the quality of this gauge. It looks and functions like an OEM part - I wouldn't be surprised if some dealerships confuse it as some kind of option on this car.

To scroll through the many different menus, I simply have to flick the cruise control speed adjustment switch up or down (if you're wondering - yes, cruise control will still work once you activate it). It will scroll through the different menus with no delay, so it is responsive as expected from something of this caliber, which says a lot as I get easily annoyed when a modern digital product has delays/lag. The screen is quite bright as well, so I had no problem viewing it even in direct sunlight.
This unit will display the engine oil and water temps (yes!!), boost pressure, transmission temps, g-force, quarter mile "race" times, GPS speed, and more. This will definitely be very useful for when I go out to track days, but will also be of great use for daily driving just so I can monitor my car's health (as well tell when the car is fully warmed up).
There is also a setup menu that has options for changing settings like the volume, brightness, and imperial/metric units.

I'm sure everyone is wondering how it is without an A/C vent. To be honest, after driving the car home in 80F weather here in SoCal, it did not bother me one bit. The passenger side vent can still be directed towards me without issue if needed and with one less vent, all the other vents are now blowing the cold air even stronger now. As a result, I was still comfortable in the hot weather on my hour long drive in bumper to bumper traffic. Like everyone else, I was hesitant on losing a vent as well, but after personally seeing the gauge in person, I was sold immediately. IMO, it is well worth the price and I'd buy it again for my future M cars.

Here are some photos of the different menus (and a video below):

Here's a video of me scrolling through all of the different menus:

Again, I have to thank the guys at eAs for being patient me! I keep ordering more parts, then changing my mind, then changing my mind on changing my mind (lol)! Always got great customer service over there!

Looks really nice and congrats to Awron for cracking the oil temp issue.

I was chatting to the Awron guys a few months ago when they started development on this for the F20/21 so it's good to see the finished article.

Only reason I won't be going for it is that I use a JB4 and it's incompatible (or was) and doesn't give the real readings since the JB4 "fools" the engine management system...

Can i get this in a window mount option? Like a GPS unit. This way i can mount it some where else as i would not like to take up any vents.

I believe this is the only mounting option for it. It literally comes as the entire center air duct unit, so all you do is remove the OEM one and install the AWRON one (which is a modified OEM piece).

It is mostly plug and play, but I would recommend having a professional install it since you will be messing around with some pretty important electronics on the car and what not.

Takes about an hour for installation, very DIY.

5 wire connection into the FEM-BODY module with supplied BMW connectors.

A great feature is that the Awron does not take over the OBD2 port and will auto-recognize diagnostic equipment, going into service mode when it senses something plugged into the port.

I'm surprised someone hasn't "hacked" idrive yet so people can create their own applications.

That's definitely a thought. I have a buddy who is really good at cracking locked software. might have him take a look at mine when it comes in.

Is not worth it...you break it and if dealer finds out, thats the end of your warranty

that really looks fucking amazing, but i don't think i could live with losing a vent.

why not develop some kind of retracting mechanism so it could flip back when you want the vent?...

either way, i still gotta say this looks epic.
