Interior Size?

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
1. Out of curiosity, since i have never owned nor sat in a 2 series, how big is the inside?

2. I had a 435X and the interior felt not to big and not to small but i could hit my head by stretching up if i tried. Felt snug but nothing like a Audi TT or anything just sporty yet roomy, to me at least.

3. Was curious if anyone could give me some insight since when i get back from my deployment i was planning on buying a M3. But this has piqued my interest immensely.

4. I realistically assume its a bit smaller more just wondering how much since it would be my daily driver.

The 2 series is pretty roomy for the front passengers. i would say similar to that of the E92 3 series.

Wondering this too - you think you could fit a car seat in the back?

I finally was able to find some dimensions and I found that this car is actually interior wise bigger than i expected. I found a comparison of interior dimensions for M235I vs M4.

M235I-
Internal dimensions:
front headroom (inches): 40.0,
rear headroom (inches): 36.5,
front hip room (inches): 56.5,
rear hip room (inches): 55.2,
front shoulder room (inches): 55.6
rear shoulder room (inches): 55.2

M4-
Internal dimensions:
front headroom (inches): 39.8,
rear headroom (inches): 36.1,
front leg room (inches): 42.2,
rear leg room (inches): 33.7,
front shoulder room (inches): 55.3
rear shoulder room (inches): 51.7

Not sure what the legroom is since it references hip room and not length. Def have to assume shorter then the 4 since the car is shorter. It is bigger than i thought by a large amount and i imagine from the specs a car seat is doable in the back.

i sat in a 235 this weekend just to see if i could sit behind myself comfortably and i could.

the front might be a little narrower than my F30, but i'm pretty skinny so it seemed the same to me.

the rear leg room is less than an F30 obviously and the F32. I once had a 2005 G35 coupe, and its a lot more spacious than that, or say a recent car like an FR-S (friend has one, its like not even worth a ride going to lunch back there).

the 2 series seemed about rear of a E46 sedan bearable for a longer ride. i don't think i'd want to be there longer than an hour (i'm 5'11... me behind myself was ok enough i guess. not the end of the world but not a 5 hour road trip ideal)

^^^ Agree with all this. I'm 5'10 and can fit in the back with about 2inches of knee room behind my own front seat adjustment. From the outside it just doesn't look like it has that room. Perfectly fine if you have kids under 18 IMO. Great little package

The back is perfect for a car seat imo.

I have stuck 2 adults in the back before for 100+ km trips with no complaints.

Most of my friends/family have never been in a bmw so they were distracted.

The only downside to the ball is headroom. You will feel closed in if you are 5'11 or higher.

I have a recaro sport seat for my 2.5 year old but the front seat is moved up quite a bit..sorry for the crappy pics

Also if you're tall you can opt for a moonroof delete to have an extra 1.5 inches up front
