Question on Euro Delivery

Hi guys,

I am newbie here and following forum for 4 months now. I am planning to purchase a M235i and final MRSP is around $48,500. Local dealer only provided MRSP and after taking graduate college discount from MRSP, I am expecting to pay $47,500 as final sale price. That's way expensive.

I saw posts that people ordered ED from BMW dealer and were taken 10% from US MRSP. However, I will not be able to travel out of states due to work. I was wondering if it is doable that I pay 60 euro to local BMW representative to drop off at shipping company while I myself stay in US (David's website was not throughly clear about location status of car owner.)

Thanks

you need to pick the car in person in europe....

Else everybody would do that to get 7% of US MSRP

Why exactly do you save 7% if you pick the car up yourself? Thinking of doing a ED as well, just don't see how it all works.

I saw from David's website that you can pay 60 euro to let a local BMW rep to pick up the car. But I am not sure if car owner needs to be there physically.

the cost of traveling absolutely exceeds the gain from ED price. And how do people match the vacation date to the date when production completes? we are not having vacation whenever we want, right?

It's how ED works.... BMW USA gives you a discount if you do ED which ED MSRP is usually 7% off US MSRP

It doesn't necessarily exceed the price if you get a good flight/use miles and know some people in the area. In that case, free trip and cheaper car

If you wait longer at some point ED orders will stop coming out of dealer allocations so you will be able to get invoice which is about 14%

Yeah, I don't know anyone in Germany. To be honest I am not even interested in travelling to Euro. Went to England 2 years ago and got my wallet/passport stolen at London.

I live in New York and I am kinda arrogant right?

I did it 3 times with 135i, M3, 335i, see my sig for pic! It was fun and the money I saved help me on the trip expense. I use miles on my flight.. looking to do it again with M235i as soon as it won't come from dealer allocation.

At least two years ago, there was a service that charge a small fee to pick the car up in Munich, drive it to the airport, and drop it off. I haven't followed EDs since getting back in 2012, so search the ED forum for better info. Jspira on the fest forum might now immediately. Bear in mind, you will still have a 6-10 week wait once your car is dropped off at the Munich Airport. And, you sign off on the car a couple days before it gets picked up. So, if you're trading a car in, you trade it in here a couple days before Person X picks up your 235. Then you have no car for 6-10 weeks...
