First Video of BMW M235i Racing Being Driven

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Here's a few laps of the infield road course of Las Vegas Speedway in the new BMW m235i Racing. It's a factory-built race car from BMW designed for privateers and club racers, aimed mostly at Germany's VLN series at the Nurburgring and similar European series. BMW is entertaining thoughts of bringing it to the US, so they invited us to try it out. Look for a full report in an upcoming issue of Grassroots Motorsport magazine.

update: Official Video!

update: new video from European Car Mag!

I've never seen a racing car with a torque converted tiptronic....a bit of a fail. should have a sequential or dual clutch gearbox.....

Are you an engineer? Technician? Race licenced driver? Have you driven the car?

How much seat/wrench time do you have? Just trying to gain some perspective on your consistent negative posts about the 2...

General shape suggests it's a b-2 stealth bomber... Or less likely an x-47b stealth drone

He really wasn't even pushing it on the corners. Babying it even. The exits were slow. Just saying. Lots of potential there. Car seemed great. Fat driver man, not so much!

Not a huge fan of the automatic but if tuned right may work well

Is this for race teams only or could someone buy it as a DE car?

This is a joke, not a racing car. It has a series engine and an automatic gearbox. It can work in american amateur racing, but not in the serious European championships. It's just marketing.

It's designed for homologation racing, and it's not even coming to the US. The intent is for it to compete in the VLN Endurance Championship and the Nürburgring 24 Hours on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife[1].

You can look down your nose at it all you want, but so far, it's looking like a pretty stellar deal for someone looking to go racing. The price is extremely cheap for a homologation car at €59,500.00.

I really like the car but I think it needs to be mated with the new M3/4 motor. I just think to have a racing car you need a racing motor, and the N55 isn't a racing motor. Even the N54 is more of a racing motor and only because of the higher mid range power.

+1. Very sad that it doesn't have a DCT or Sequential.
